When should I see a physiotherapist?

Think about getting physiotherapy if you have an injury or chronic pain that affects how you function every day. A doctor may refer you to physiotherapy after surgery such as a hip replacement, shoulder surgery, or ACL reconstruction.

I suffer from headaches. Can physiotherapy help me?

If the origin of your headache is musculature and not of systemic origin, then yes.

Can physiotherapy treatments be painful?

Depending on the area and type of treatment, it can be painful but it’s definitely not harmful.

What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?

Comfortable athletic wear. Shorts if the issue is regarding the lower extremity and cuff off shirt/sports bra if it’s regarding the upper.

Is physiotherapy covered by OHIP?

Physiotherapy at the Adelaide Health Clinic is not covered by OHIP. Ontario’s Community Physiotherapy Clinic Program provides OHIP covered physiotherapy at designated clinics for patients meeting certain requirements.

However, physiotherapy may be covered by your extended benefits/insurance coverage. It is recommended to check with your insurance provider to be sure.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist at the Adelaide Health Clinic?

A referral is only necessary if your third-party insurance provider requests it in order to cover your costs. We suggest you check with your extended benefit plan provider to determine if you need one prior to your initial appointment.

Is the Adelaide Health Clinic accepting new patients for physiotherapy?

Yes! Our physiotherapists are happy to welcome new patients. Please call our reception or click here to book an appointment.
