What is custom bracing?

Custom bracing involves the design and fabrication of specialized orthotic devices that provide support, stability, and protection for various joints and body parts. These braces are used in sports medicine and rehabilitation to address a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, providing benefits such as stabilization, injury prevention, post-injury support, rehabilitation aid, pain relief, and performance enhancement.

Our team of practitioners at the Adelaide Health Clinic create individually tailored braces designed for each patient's specific needs.

How do I order my brace?

Book an appointment at the Clinic to be measured for your custom brace.

Once the brace is received, you will be contacted for a follow-up appointment to have our staff educate you on how to apply your brace.

How long will it take before I get my brace?

A standard order takes approximately 2 weeks. A rush order can take 3 – 5 business days.

Why should I get a custom brace rather than a regular one from the drugstore?

The decision to get a custom brace versus a regular over-the-counter brace from a drugstore depends on your specific needs, the nature of your condition or injury, and your treatment goals. Both custom and OTC braces have their advantages and limitations. Here are some reasons why you might consider getting a custom brace:

- Tailored fit
- Personalized support
- Complex conditions
- Enhanced functionality
- Preventative care
- High-impact sports
- Severe instability
- Comprehensive care

Are custom braces covered by OHIP or the assistive devices program (ADP)?

No, custom knee braces are not covered under OHIP or the ADP.

Are custom braces covered under my extended health insurance program?
