Mary was born and raised in Niagara Wine Country and Tender Fruit Farming Belt. She went to London to earn her Bachelor of Science (honors) Degree in Clinical Nutrition (1988) at the University of Western Ontario. Her next academic move brought her further west to Edmonton to complete her Dietetic Internship at the University of Alberta Hospitals (1989). Mary is a regulated health professional as a member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario and Dietitians of Canada. While working full time, Mary completed a graduate degree in Marketing from McMaster University (MBA 2002). In 2008, Mary completed her certification in Smoking Cessation Counselling through The University of Toronto and CAMH.
Ultimately, Mary helps her clients make the healthy choice the easy choice. Mary offers a buffet of proven motivational and Cognitive Behaviour Change (CBT) tools that turn eating, exercise and lifestyle goals into actions and results.
In her free time, Mary loves to cook, mountain bike, run and hike.
Prior to joining Adelaide Clinic in 2007, Mary worked in both hospitals and in business. Her career began with several clinical nutrition positions at McMaster University Medical Center including The Children’s Exercise and Nutrition Center, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She next moved into progressive sales and marketing positions in the pharmaceutical and manufacturing industries. She returned to Clinical Dietetics in 2005 opening Bamford Nutrition Consulting with individual counselling at The Club at White Oaks in Niagara-on-the-Lake, teaching at Niagara College, and providing corporate wellness and weight loss programs. She fully moved her practice to Toronto in 2010.
Mary is a part-time addition to the impressive staff at the Adelaide Health Clinic. She is also the Director of Nutrition at Newtopia Inc., and leads corporate weight loss programs and nutrition seminars.
